The number of variations that exist for video poker is truly nothing short of astounding. All told there are dozens upon dozens of imaginative tales on the game, with the number growing all the time. Video poker machines are also constantly undergoing new innovations, with wild cards, multiple decks, bonuses for certain hands some of the most common ones having been introduced over the years. It would be helpful for the video poker player to realize that the payoff for each table can actually vary from machine to machine. To sufficiently gain an edge in the game, a player will have to adopt the correct or near-correct video poker strategy that is appropriate to the particular game and payoff table. Video poker players that pick machines randomly and play by instinct and common sense are probably destined to lose in the long run. Serious video poker players on the other hand, will know enough to rely on strategy and will therefore make the best play as often as possible.
